About us
The site of Ellerdine Lakes was first developed in September 2000 by Edward and Jayne Upton. Now a thriving business and favoured location for many, Ellerdine is regarded as the best trout fishery in Shropshire.
If you are a beginner or would just like to brush up on your fly fishing skills, we offer fly casting tuition. Winter fly tying courses are also available. Please call or email us for further information. Group bookings are welcome.
The lakes at Ellerdine
We have four well-established spring-fed lakes here at the Ellerdine Lakes Trout Fishery: Cranymoor, Lakemoor, Meadow and Marsh. Each lake has its own individual character, but all are well stocked with Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout Blue Trout, Sparctic trout Char and even a few Atlantic Salmon providing an excellent day of fishing. The average size is 3lbs but much larger fish up to 20lb are caught daily.
The lakes which have been designed for ease of casting. At Ellerdine Lakes we believe that everyone should enjoy a good day's fishing, and so we have provided disabled access to each of our lakes. Areas in close proximity around much of the lakes have been cleared of obstacles enabling wheelchair access as close as possible to the waterside. We also provide a disabled toilet in our on-site facilities.
On-site facilities
We want you to enjoy your day out fishing. And so to make your day a little more sociable, practical and enjoyable we have installed on-site facilities to cater for your every need. Along with our tackle shop you will find ample car parking, toilets (including disabled toilets) and a small cafe serving food and beverages.
We sell a range of hot and cold food at our Ellerdine Cafe, prepared fresh on site. We sell bacon and sausage sandwiches, as well as sweets and cakes. We also provide unlimited free tea and coffee for our visiting anglers.
Our tackle shop
Not only can we provide you with a great venue for fishing, but we can also kit you out with the latest fly fishing tackle at an excellent price. Our on-site shop stocks all manner of rods and reels, flies and fly tying equipment, sunglasses and new ranges of clothing.
We are now a main listed supplier of Scierra, AirFlo, Wychwood Greys Snobee and many many more. Whatever your requirement, if its for fly fishing, we sell it! We have a vast selection of over 2000 flies, tied by Fulling Mill, Iain Barr.
